Today, was the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon, a route I followed faithfully today as . . . well, more accidentally. And there was no swimming.
Or biking.
Or running.
There was however a fair amount of sweaty feet and blister accumulation.
Its been a long stated goal of mine to walk across the entire city and today, as my toes would shout at you, that feat has been accomplished. We took off just before 11AM with the sunshine welcoming us and returned just after 5PM (and a much deserved fudge stop).
I visited some new spots - Laguna Heights, deeper into the Fillmore - but otherwise travailed parts of neighborhoods I've come to know over the years. I sit here with a mild sunburn headache (apparently 30 SPF lasts only about 30 minutes) but full of energy and pride.
We made it. May you some day say the same thing. Maybe today, whatever that long trail, steep hike, or blistered fear may be.
Have a good one, friends.
